How will the Academy be a genuine community school meeting the needs of the families surrounding it.
The Academy would serve different communities, including its local community. It would offer its facilities for use by the communities it will serve out of school hours and at the weekend.
What are you going to do to gain the support of the local community?
So far, the overall responses to our proposals have been at least 80% supportive and we have no evidence to suggest this figure is lower amongst the local community. We are always keen to find more effective ways of communicating. We sent out several thousand Newsletters to all local primary schools and community groups, but we may find quicker and more reliable ways of reaching people for the autumn consultation. In addition there were two formal Consultation Meetings for local people and others to attend in October where a good number of people attended and had their say on the proposal.
Will there be more local specific consultation from the community as to what is needed at the Academy.
Yes. The sponsors are keen to ensure that everyone in the local community has their chance to have their say if the proposal proceeds to the implementation stage.
What will the impact be on the local community and traffic implications if there is an expansion programme?
The plans would be shared with all stakeholders (once meetings with the Architects have taken place). There will be consideration to add a new entrance off the roundabout to the west of the site (planning officers would be involved), with vehicular access from this entrance. As plans develop there will be further consultation.
